One of the early ways of vaccinating people against disease was to give them the blood of "an overcomer" - someone who had been exposed to the disease and overcame it. The overcomers blook had antibodies and these antibodies would spread in the blood of the receiver, so that they too could stand against the disease. They received virtue and strength from another.
As I partook of the Lord's Supper today, I thought again of the allegory. Praise God! By faith I receive the blood of The Overcomer. By faith the life that is in His blood is symbolically injected in me. By faith, I am His child, filled with His life which gives me the power to overcome sin as well.
