Heather Rebecca

Heather Rebecca is a gracious, loving fighter. When she was in the womb her daddy and I struggled with a boy name, but we were in totally agreement for the girl’s name: Heather, a purple flower that grows wild in harsh conditions. Rebecca: a young woman in the Bible who was known for her beauty, kindness, and faith.

When Heather was born she had a clubbed foot. But we found that she was truly a fighter. Dr. Gilloon told me that God gives extra grace to those children born with a difficulty. And we saw that. Heather used her cast to give herself leverage to roll over. Then as she was about six months old she was in special shoes that were connected with a metal bar. She would lie on her back and put her feet in the air and swing them back and forth so much she could actually move the crib a little. Before she was one she used this action to get enough momentum to catapult herself out of the crib! We were astounded! And she even learned to walk with her feet in this contraption. Truly she was able to not only grow, but thrive in harsh conditions.

Heather is a purple flower – denoting royalty. Again, Heather fulfilled her name by embracing the King of Kings at a very early age. I read to her the story of the King’s Invitation and she accepted Christ’s invitation. I truly believe that she became a Christian at that time – at the age of two. She has never doubted and has had incredible experiences with God her whole childhood, teen years and now as an adult.

My Heather is like the Biblical Rebecca – beautiful inside and out, kind to all and full of faith. She has not had twins yet, but Rich is still threatening! And I know that her boys will get along better than the biblical Rebecca’s boys. Because Heather and Rich will introduce the boys to Jesus and teach them to walk with Him and to yield to the Holy Spirit.

what's wierd is I actually remember walking with that brace... that is a fond memory, unlike the one at the weird prosthetic leg place that smelled funny!
